History Week

History Week will include history talks, demonstrations and festive gatherings at historical locations throughout the county. 

Schedule of Events

Saturday August 26
1 pm – Harbor History Walking Tour, meet at the Lightkeeper’s Museum in Grand Marais

Saturday August 26
John Schroeder Day at Cross River Heritage Center in Schroeder.
Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast at the Schroeder Town Hall from 8 – 10 am, and activities at Cross River Heritage Center from 10 am – 2 pm.

Tuesday August 29
North Shore Cruise’ “See the Shore Through the Eyes of a Fisherman.”  Join the North Shore Commercial Fishing Museum for a trip aboard the historic boat, the Wenonah.  The ship leaves the Silver Bay Marina at 4:30 for a two hour trip along the coast of Lake Superior with a commercial fisherman describing hazards, historic sites, old fish houses and storms.  You will never view at the coast the same way again. If bad weather, cruise will be August 30th.

All you have to bring is your appetite. We’ll be cooking over an open fire and be featuring all the barbecue staple items all the while overlooking Lake Superior.

The Two Harbors City Band was organized in 1897 and is the oldest city band existing in Minnesota!. Each summer the Band performs free weekly concerts in the Paul Gauche Memorial Band Shell located in Thomas Owens Park in downtown Two Harbors.
