From Hwy 61 in Grand Marais, go north on the Gunflint Trail (co. Rd. 12) about 2 miles to Co. Rd. 53, then east on Co. Rd. 53 to the scenic overlook and parking

at the overlook parking at the cross-country ski trailhead

4.8 miles for the Pincushion Loop
4.8 miles one-wat to Co. Rd. 58

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY
moderate

HIGHLIGHTS
lots of easy loops and spurs - up both sides of the river and along the lake shore; popular Lookout Mountain hike with steep direct approach (2.25 miles total) or wind around and up and tkae the direct route back doan (4 miles)
