LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY
Moderate to more difficult (some washouts and steep grades)

HIGHLIGHTS
great overall hike; hike above the river past rock cliffs, cross on a footbridge and return on the east side of the river; river valley views and Lake Superior overlooks

available at nearby State Park and Lighthouse

LOCATION
On Hwy 61, 20 miles north of Two Harbors, with parking in the park
and at the lighthouse

TRAILHEAD
At the lighthouse and history center parking area, or farther into the park
at the picnic area

LENGTH
12 miles of total trails

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY
Easy to moderate

HIGHLIGHTS
explore cobblestone beaches; several vantage points for looking at the lighthouse; a nice walk in the woods; lots of short trails

AMENITIES
bathrooms, some paved trails, and picnic area
