Hiking Trail The Superior Hiking Trail (SHT) is the finest hiking trail in the Midwest and among the top 10 trails in the nation. Originating in Duluth, this long-distance trail clings to the ridgeline above Lake Superior to its final destination: Canada. Hikers access the SHT at points along county and forest roads and in the state parks that the trail links together. Trails are created and maintained by the volunteers of the Superior Hiking Trail Association, which offers memberships and a catalog of merchandise.
