From Hwy 61 in Beaver Bay, drive north on Lax Lake Rd (Co. Rd. 4) .8 miles

TRAILHEAD
East side of the road at the snowmobile trail

LENGTH
4.7 miles one-way to Penn Blvd, just north of Silver Bay

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY
Moderate

HIGHLIGHTS
2.25-mile round-trip hike to waterfalls of the Beaver River
continue on to Sulheim's Overlook, a rock outcrop with nearly full-circle views, through a birch forest, along a ridgeline and past a beaver pond

On Hwy 61, 5 miles north of Silver Bay

TRAILHEAD
At parking lots in wayside or follow the road through the park to interior trails

LENGTH
23 miles of total trails

Easy to more difficult

HIGHLIGHTS
lots of short walks from the visitor center - features overlooks of Lake Superior and the mouth of the Baptism River
one-mile spur out to Shovel Point on Lake Superior
inland loops head to the High Falls, inland lakes and overlooks
