Snow Report Outdoor Activity Status Report :: 3 February :: updated Thursdays and after major snowfalls We're in a pattern - a little precipitation every handful of days followed by a bit of warmer than usual weather. On the northeast end of the shore, the snow is accumulating with good skiing at Lutsen and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling from Lutsen to Grand Marais and inland up the Gunflint Trail.

Cross-Country Ski Trails
(near Two Harbors) Gooseberry Falls State Park ::
| Facilities A warming house is located in the visitor's center. Daily ski passes ($5) are sold at the park office. Annual ski passes must be purchased at an ELS vendor. Winter camping is available. |
Trail Conditions :: 1 Feb Melting like spring. Looking at some bare ground. Great hiking. Did pack inland snow in case we get more. |

(near Beaver Bay) Split Rock Lighthouse State Park ::
| Facilities A warming house is located in the park at the Trail Center picnic area. Daily ski passes are sold at the park office ($5). Camping is available at the cart-in campground all year. In the winter, camping may also be allowed at picnic sites closer to the Trail Center building. |
Trail Conditions :: 1 Feb Some melting going on, we need 6-8 inches of snow before we can groom. Hikers are finding some icy patches. |

(near Silver Bay) Tettegouche State Park ::
| Facilities Ski passes are sold at the park office. Nearby resorts do rent out ski equipment.The park rents snowshoes. Contact park for winter camping opportunities. Some sites are plowed throughout the winter. George H. Crosby Manitou State Park Trails are not groomed for skiing. Backcountry "bushwhack" skiing is great on the Yellow Birch, Matt Willis and Middle Trails. All park trails are open for snowshoeing and are great backcountry hikes. CAUTION: This park is very remote. Make proper plans before you visit the park |

| Sugarbush Trail Report :: 2 Feb Conditions range from fair to good with poor conditions under the pines. still lots of undulations - we need a few more inches of snow to level things out. still recommending rock skis on the entire trail except the Onion River Road. Click for a trail map |

The trail is consistent with the North Shore topography; cliffs intermixed with forest land. All types of wildlife can be seen along the trail. State Parks Trails 30 Jan 2-3" of snow fell today and we will groom tomorrow! Hiking is good and it is a quick hike to the frozen waterfall. |
Cascade / Deeryard Lake Area 2 Feb Best conditions are on Deeryard. All trails open and groomed today except State Park west of river. Hall / Massie Loops 2 Feb Groomed but lousy skiing. |

1 Feb 3" of new snow fell on Monday, grooming finished up in the early morning hours on Tuesday. All trails have been groomed for classic and skate skiing. The warming house is open from 10-9 each day and the lights stay on until 10pm, it is going to b a great week, hope to see you all out there! On a side note, it had started to snow when I was wrapping up, might have to repeat the entire process tomorrow!

North Shore State Trail
The trail winds its way through remote, wooded areas behind the bluffs that overlook Lake Superior. From there you can see some of Minnesota's most rugged and beautiful scenery.

We packed a section of trail from Caribou Trail parking lot to the jumction with the Gunflint trail system [all in Cook County]. there is a 3-6 inch base along this trail. Warm weather is in the forecast; ride with caution.
