Each small town celebrates nature, arts and history, the great outdoors, local and regional talents, holidays and community. And you’re invited to join in. This North Shore Calendar of Events lists all kinds of goings-on; guided hikes, 99-mile bike races, fine art exhibits, pie-eating contests, solstice celebrations, historical talks, workshops, classes, summer festivals, small town parades, and the annual lighting of Split Rock Lighthouse.

Have you ever wondered about the Minnesota state bird, the Common Loon? How do researchers tell the difference between individuals? What are the vocalizations all about? Join researcher/naturalist Katy Dahl as she explores the common loon and dives into discussing the research being done with the National Loon Center and the Loon Project.

Free for members; all other parking fee of $5 per car.
