North Shore Calendar of Events

Each small town celebrates nature, arts and history, the great outdoors, local and regional talents, holidays and community. And you’re invited to join in. This North Shore Calendar of Events lists all kinds of goings-on; guided hikes, 99-mile bike races, fine art exhibits, pie-eating contests, solstice celebrations, historical talks, workshops, classes, summer festivals, small town parades, and the annual lighting of Split Rock Lighthouse.

Bookbinding Workshop
Bookbinding Workshop

Learn hand bookbinding as you help bind library copies of a new collection of student writings and art about the pandemic.

Cook County students responded to the pandemic last spring with artwork and writing, and their reactions were compiled into a book called SQUEEZED, COVID THE CONSTRICTOR.

Sharon Geisfeldt VanRuiswick will teach you how to do hand binding at an open (and free) workshop. If you’d like to participate in this workshop (all day from 10 to 4 or as a drop-in), please contact Ann Marie Mershon to sign up. 218-387-2245 or annmarie@boreal.org.

This project is funded by grants from the Karen Smaby Estate and the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation.
