North Shore Calendar of Events

Each small town celebrates nature, arts and history, the great outdoors, local and regional talents, holidays and community. And you’re invited to join in. This North Shore Calendar of Events lists all kinds of goings-on; guided hikes, 99-mile bike races, fine art exhibits, pie-eating contests, solstice celebrations, historical talks, workshops, classes, summer festivals, small town parades, and the annual lighting of Split Rock Lighthouse.

Trees, Trains & Tradition
Trees, Trains & Tradition

Knife River Depot | Knife River MN

Shop for Christmas trees, wreaths, and garland! Tea, Trains & Tradition ties to the North Shore Scenic Railroad’s “Christmas Tree Train” that brings families from the Duluth depot to pick up a pre-paid tree from a local tree grower and shop for wreaths and garland. Trees are bound and placed in a boxcar for the return trip.

The tree site will be open to everybody after the train leaves around noon. The depot will be heated and open all Saturday. Larsmont
Trading Post will be serving food and hot beverages. With Holiday music and décor, the day will surely get you in the spirit of Christmas!
