At Grand Portage National Monument’s Heritage Center, the George Morrison Exhibit “Connections” will open the week of April 18, 2022. For this exhibit, the National Park Service (NPS) has gathered works in their collection, along with works and artifacts from private collections, to curate the exhibition.

Join us for Spirit of the Wilderness’s community art exhibition, Growing Toward the Light.
Michelle Westmark Wingard is an installation-based photographer, curator, and arts educator. She is Professor of Art and Gallery Director of Bethel University’s two exhibition spaces. In her fifteen years of programming exhibitions, Westmark Wingard has worked with more than eighty artists in a diverse range of media. Her photographic and curatorial projects often seek to create experiential and participatory opportunities exploring themes of memory, grief, memorial, perception, and interconnection. She has curated several exhibitions and has also exhibited her own photographic work locally and nationally.
Exhibition runs April 29th through May 22nd alongside our permanent Anna C Johnson collection and charming gift shop.

Demonstrate your support for equal access to justice and join us for a family-friendly Law Day 5K run/walk! The 5K will support the critical work of the team at Legal Aid Service of Northeastern Minnesota (LASNEM). LASNEM provides free civil legal services to thousands of low-income people who cannot otherwise afford it. LASNEM serves eleven counties in legal matters that impact people’s security, safety, stability, and basic needs.
The 5K will begin and end at Lester Park Trails and Playground. The course follows Lester River Road and returns to Lester Park for a post-race gathering with refreshments, and tours of LASNEM’s Justice Bus! Your registration includes a Law Day 5K t-shirt. If you can’t join in person, you can still participate in the event by selecting the virtual option!
