Le Grand du Nord Bike Races
Le Grand du Nord Bike Races
100 MILE AND 50 MILE GRAVEL CYCLING CLASSICS

Starting out of Grand Marais’ spectacular harbor, the route climbs to a breathtaking view of the US/Canadian border. With almost 6000 ft of climbing, it is the punchiest route of the three Heck Production events. Voyageur Brewing Company will be hosting registration and providing their exceptional craft beer on Friday evening. After the ride on Saturday, there will also be a barbecue at Voyageur Brewing. The race will be finishing at the YMCA in Grand Marais, so that while some are riding, family members can swim, take a sauna or shoot hoops.

The goal with Le Grand du Nord is to take all that we love about gravel cycling and bring it together for one special weekend. Amazing routes, great beer and food, and time spent outside with your friends and family. Doesn’t get much better than that.

Registration and more information can be found on the Heck of the North web site.

This event is in cooperation with and under a Special Use Permit from U.S. Forest Service, Gunflint Range District.

Harbor Park Sound Garden

Downtown Grand Marais | Grand Marais MN

The Harbor Park Sound Garden is a family-friendly, free, outdoor event open to all ages and will take place from 12 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 27.  The Spring Sound Garden event will celebrate the coming of spring, and the history, geography, and ecology of Harbor Park and Lake Superior.

The Spring Sound Garden event will feature a temporary sound installation, combining live musicians and a small choir with 35 small, battery-powered remote speakers distributed throughout the park, each playing a different part of the larger piece of music – a spatial concert you can walk through!  In addition to the sound installation, the event will feature visual art elements by local artists, live poetry, history, and storytelling and interactive opportunities.

The Spring Sound Garden is created by Minneapolis-based award-winning composer/director James Everest.
