Take an extended bike ride along the Gitchi Gami Trail from
the Cross River Falls in Schroeder along Lake Superior and
Highway 61 through the new bike tunnel, past Superior
National at Lutsen to the Ski Hill Road [round trip is 22.2
miles].

During fall colors, drive up the Temperance River Road, turn
east on the 600 Road and return to Hwy 61 south on the
Sawbill Trail.

Hike to the gorges at Temperance River State Park, north of
the highway, then head south over the footbridge and down
to the pebble beach at the mouth of the river, one of the
few without a sandbar at its mouth, hence the river name.
