Rows of hand-made and unique watercraft, a boat parade, craft demonstrations, an evening square dance, boat and tool auction, chili and brats…there’s a bit of everything during our Wooden Boat Show and Summer Solstice Festival. Try your hand at a workshop or course; be inspired by the stories of boat builders, sailors and travelers; plan your next adventure. Join us as we welcome the summer season in the best way possible: talking boats, celebrating community and hanging out on the shores of Lake Superior.

Lutsen Mountains | Lutsen MN

The Lutsen 99er is an Ultra Mountain Bike Race through 99 miles of the most rugged terrain Minnesota has to offer.

The race starts and finishes at Lutsen Mountains and winds from the coast of Lake Superior through the peaks of the Sawtooth Mountains with 19 mile, 39 mile, new this year: a 69 mile and the ultimate 99 mile course options. Registration, map & info here.

Gooseberry Falls State Park | Two Harbors

Fifth Falls View Hike, 2.2 miles
Make sure to pack a camera for great views along the Gooseberry River. This hike will be led by a Gooseberry Falls State Park naturalist and the route may fluctuate a bit.  Meet inside the Gooseberry Falls Visitor Center.
Directions to Gooseberry Falls Visitor Center: At Hwy. 61 milepost 38.9, turn right and go 0.2 miles to Visitor Center parking lot.

 

  • SHTA weekend hikes begin at 10:00 AM rain, snow, or shine. Weekday hikes begin at 9:00 AM.
  • Each hike is led by a member of the Superior Hiking Trail Association! Hike leaders may cancel or change the hike in the event of severe weather. The meeting location will always remain the same.
  • Hikes are free of charge. No need to register.
  • Wear sturdy boots or hiking shoes, bring lunch, water, and insect repellent.
  • Due to past problems, dogs are not allowed on guided hikes.
  • Hikes are rugged and often very challenging. Please assess your own abilities before deciding to participate. It is better to start small than to be overly ambitious about what you can handle. We offer a variety of hike lengths for this purpose.

Hike this other Split Rock Loop with fantastic views of Lake Superior and the Split Rock Lighthouse. Meet at Split Rock River Wayside.
Directions to Split Rock River Wayside: On Hwy. 61 milepost 43.5 with parking lot on left.

Gooseberry Falls State Park | Two Harbors

11 am – noon :: Enjoy great views and discover falls history as you explore the Upper, Middle and Lower Falls. Don’t forget your camera. Majority of the hike will involve descending stairs on this 3/4 mile walk. Meet at the Visitor Center Art Column.

Gooseberry: River of Life

2:30 – 4 pm :: They’re creepy! They’re crawling! They’re very important. Come join the naturalist as we get our hands and feet wet exploring the marvelous life in the Gooseberry River. Identify some common critters that call the river home. Discover the reason why having these creepy crawlies is a good thing and why the river is very important. Meet at the lower falls area.
